Well, I got my response from the CDS.
"I am informed that Enzo‘s enrolment medical examination was conducted in September 2001. I am also advised that on May 2002 a Medical Employment Limitation, which stated that he "Requires assessment by a specialist prior to consideration for enrolment." There is no record that Enzo obtained the required specialist assessment. The results of the September 2001 medical examination are no longer considered valid. This is because they cannot be considered reflective of his current medical condition due to the passage of time. It is suggested that he reapply for enrolment. As part of the process, he will undergo a new medical examination and be required to obtain a specialist assessment."
So lets see if I get this straight. After I was informed that I required a "specialist" (in this case an orthopaedic specialist) I contacted the specialist in my area. There is only one who specializes in the lower back. He informed me that he was not qualified to perform such an assessment as he dealt in bones, not tissues. He informed me that I should seek the services of a back specialist (I had by this time already been to 2 such specialists in addition to a Transport Canada Medical Examiner). I returned with this information to CFRC who contacted Borden. A reply came along stating that I should instead go to a physiatrist. (see above). With that verification of the specialists I had already seen I then asked if they wanted yet another copy of the same report from any of the above. To this the little darlin‘ replied, "well then, go find another orthopaedic surgeon." Bear also in mind a visit to one of those will set me back $12-1500, that‘s assuming I can find one who will see me due to the reasons stated above.
When I last left it with CFRC, they told me to go to my MP. I waited until my return to Canada as I went to work in the Caymans for awhile after that (cooling off, head clearing and money to pay for upcoming bloody tests). I‘ve since done that and this is the response almost 3 months later.
So, due to the passage of time I‘m to simply start the entire process over again? Bearing in mind I originally began this back in 1999/2000. (CFRC paperwork issues dragged on until Sept 2001)
Then there is the OM‘s office who will decide next week whether to launch an investigation based on all of this - as of now they are leaning in that direction.
Or should I just try to find the cash, go into CFRC and start this entire process over again. I‘m currently a student, not making the money from diving that I was last year, so that isn‘t a decision to be made lightly.
Just keeping my sanity, losing my patience and wondering how the **** this can be happening in the first place. Bear in mind that this all stems from an injury the CF denies responsibility for, debate the circumstances of the injury, yet paid for the surgery as I was in the Infantry on course at the time.
It‘s just so bloody comic. Oh well, I have another year of school to have fun with and the weather is excellent here on the coast. Just not going to be doing any courses this summer eh. I‘ll keep you guys posted, there has to be a book in here someplace
