Is it true that some units don't so push-ups? That is what the fitness appraiser at CFRC Toronto told me.

Which units woild those be?

Perhaps I can change my unit?

BTW, What if I want to change my unit NOW? Remember, I am waiting for my file to be processed.

The combat arms never do pushups, or chinups. If you want to be assured of never doing another push up, then Para is the way to go...slackers!

Ya Kat, I remember someone told me about his friend who got kicked of his para course for getting caught doing those.

Para?

Name some of those units, would ya?

A quick search, an you could have found all this out
Reserve units occasionaly do PT, but usually a parade/training night they do other things. Reg Force, they do PT every morning during the work week.
Airborne units
Reserve - Queens Own Rifles has a Jump Platoon
Regular Force, 3VP, 3RCR and 3R22eR all have a jump company.

I am quite surprised that Para courses don't do push-ups?

I thought para's were training for weapons specialist  ???

Man, I love this thread. It is both entertaining and informative. ;D

Nah, para is all about ninja training, so lots of jumping around in tights, etc

Sarcasm, n.
Pronunciation: 'sär-"ka-z&m

Etymology: French or Late Latin; French sarcasme, from Late Latin sarcasmos, from Greek sarkasmos, from sarkazein to tear flesh, bite the lips in rage, sneer, from sark-, sarx flesh; probably akin to Avestan thwar&s- to cut
1 : a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain <tired of continual sarcasms>
2 a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual b : the use or language of sarcasm <this is no time to indulge in sarcasm>

para units no longer conduct PT sessions. It was determined that by doing so, and maintaining a superior level of fitness, it caused a downgrading of other unit's morale. Any para caught doing any sort of PT is immediately subject to disciplinary action.

Frankly paralegal, with your name and attitude I feel you would be a tremendous asset to a para unit. It's about time someone on this site had the intestinal fortitude to say "Push-ups are hard, and I don't want to do them!"

Good for you!

So just send Paracowboy a private message with all your details and I just know he will hook you up......

I am waiting for my file to complete processing.

What if I want to change my unit now? Will that cause a problem?

I just don't know who would treat him the best: 3 RCR, 3 R22R, 3 PPCLI, the QOR? They all have some truly motivated individuals who could explain to him the non-importance (is that a word?) of physical fitness. Or discipline, for that matter (to my mind, a ridiculously over-rated mental flaw that all paras are better off without).

In fact, in honour of our brave friend, (a trend-setter if ever there was one) I'm heading down to the kitchen for a pice of blueberry pie. A la mode!

pfft, you still have to walk to the kitchen to get food? Haven't you had the telekinesis course?

Go to your nearest CFRC and tell the nice man (or woman) behind the desk that you want to join a unit that doesn't do PT. I'm sure he/she will be very helpful in directing you to the para unit of your choice. Maybe if you're really lucky you'll end up in 3PPCLI and sit down with paracowboy to share the pie...

Nah, I don't think PPCLI is for him, sounds more like JTF2 material.

that's probably the best course of action. Let's not cause waves. paralegal-dude, just go to the nearest CFRC and say you want to join a para unit because they don't do PT, and you have an aversion to it. They'll take it from there.

I dunno...JTF2 has some pretty lazy guys...I don't know if army_paralegal could keep up with their standards.

I have to disagree. JTF-2 haven't realized that PT is unpleasant, and are simply not concerned with the negative effects their superior physical fitness has on the other units they deal with. (A rather narrow-minded lot, really.) In any event, paralegal would have to do several years with a conventional unit first, before he can apply. It would behoove him to do so in a unit he would feel more comfortable in.

What ever. How many pictures have you seen of JTF2 doing PT? or even breaking a sweat?

If you even *need* to do PT, you're already too weak.
