Attention CIMIC operators: I'm considering putting my name in for a CIMIC position on TF 1-08 to Afghanistan. I'm on the hunt for information about CIMIC operations in the Kandahar area. As well as suggestions on how to prepare for the course in Kingston. I'm all ears, Chimo!

Really, maybe the common military lexicon to those they have not been there.  Phrases like this de-humanize the people we are there to protect and are huge red flags for those that think we are just a bunch of kill bots.

Can we please put the use of the phrase 'sandbox' to bed.  Especially in a public forum It comes off sounding ignorant and out of step with what the CF is working to achieve in Afghanistan. My 2 cents.

Leonidio, It's a free country, but I'll give you some free and friendly advice.  Loose the JTF-2 avatar, maybe your a 'fan' but unless your with the 'band' it's kinda cheesy to misrepresent yourself...yeah just take it down. Chimo!

Just to clarify my intent was to show the enormity of the task and what it would take to achieve it.  No one in opposition will admit what 'peacekeeping' in Sudan will actually mean. Occupation of Sudan, a whole lot of killing and a whole lot of nation building... not necessarily in that order...

While I do not agree with tour rotations longer than 6(ish) months much of what Lewis Mackenzie makes sense too me.  Deploying troops to Darfur is a matter of will.  The CF could do it if we went to a higher mobilization of the reserves for subsequent rotos.  It would be confusing for NDP types...

I'm with cplcaldwell on this one, this Steven Chand fellow seems to lack the foresight and discipline to complete his training. He seems to lack the focus to complete any task, makes me wonder how serious of a threat this guy actually was.  This could have been much worse for the CF, imagine him...

In my humble opinion as an Edmonton firefighter if you really want to be a firefighter the civilian side is the only way to go.  Better lifestyle, job satisfaction, pay and actually getting to fight fire.  Lots of different things to get into technical (high angle) rescue, ice, boat and water...

Ghost, First of all I don't think Class B commandos should even exist, Class B back fills are a crutch for both the army and the member.  Hopefully in the near future we can move back and forth between reg and reserve with minimal restrictions.  Unless you have a plan, shake the class B thing...

I wonder if the same principle was applied to the mass acquisition of the C7A2 vs C-8A1?  By saying that the longer version is more accurate and therefore less likely to cause collaterial damage?

As much as it pains me to say I would say that the MP trade is the only full time place for Army K-9. The engineers looked into getting dogs but in the end it was decided that it wasn't feasible. I have seen Croation MP dogs and various civilian contractors being used to search for explosives...
