Take everything Ontario west and send it to the Pacific Rim. Everything from New Brunswick east to Europe. Leave Quebec isolated and out of the fund sharing.

Even with generic cookies, it's pretty impressive how easily people can scrape together your digital footprint and very quickly narrow down a lot of very personal data when they aggregate it. If you look at things advertisers can get like user location data (from phone tracking, apps like Strava etc) you can narrow down things to where people live, where they shop, what they browse, etc pretty easily, even though that's pretty anonymous in theory, and fairly straightforward to cross reference that against databases that can get down to your actual name and address.

I had someone argue strenuously against government intervention due to privacy issues. I drew out of them that they and their kids were all on TikTok…I literally stopped talking to them and walked away…

I think aside from kids accessing porn, real and practical sex ed in high schools and grades 7 and 8 makes more sense, as that's kind of the age when kids start to poke around at that. Before it used to be someone's dad's porn mags or whatever that would get swiped, now some curious kid can stream HD video of all kinds of weird niche fetishes. I know that's a flash point with some parents, and fair enough, but they are pretty naive if they think little Johnny not learning about how to properly put on a condom and STDs in school because you pulled them out of the class and refuse to talk to them about it means they can't easily watch some kind of hard core porn somewhere regardless of what you do, and you can shelter them from that. If you don't educate your kids, they'll educate themselves, and probably won't be the lessons you want them to learn.

Your a bit behind as to how early they are exposed to porn now. I got my first exposure in grade 4 through a unrelated google search in the early 2000s. Its only gotten more available since then.

Now we have kids as young as 6 sexting each other. We are literally at the point where they are sending nudes long before they have held hands. Not to mention the ease of access that exists on Twitter, instagram, facebook, google, reddit, etc.

The key thing with those sites I listed is the fact they are multi-usage sites which have legitimate content for minors as well as plenty of illegitimate content posted by people too.

I don’t know what the solution is other than parents being extremely involved with their phones and ipads. Constant checks, usage of parental controls, regular monitoring, etc. Any government regulations can and will be circumvented, as well as it will likely create plenty of negatives.

While I agree that hardcore porn is not a good thing for children, I am reminded that some Europeans I’ve worked with used to joke that North Americans would have no issues letting their kids/teens blow each other up in video games or see graphic violence in media, but clutch their pearls at the sight of a naked breast.

I came to Canada from Grade 5 and entered Grade 6. My class mates were showing me the stashes of their Dad's naturist magazines in their garages and the neighbourhood stash of Playboys in the "club house" on a wooded, undeveloped lot in the middle of our neighbourhood.

Trans-Mountain currently send 40% of it's feedstock to Washington State, that is converted to refined fuels at Cherry Point and then resold to us in USD which means +30% for currency exchange, plus refining and shipping. Right now BC has two refineries, 55,000 b/d in Vancouver and PG is 12,000 B/D

Funding Ukraine is by far the most cost effective defence spending NATO members have ever engaged in, in terms of curbing Russian expansionism.

Rolling over and biting the pillow on Russia’s imperialism might be something we can get away with here on our side of the moat, but it’s no principled approach, and it abandons our traditional and situational allies. It would simply cost far more in the long run.
