Ok, so more religion in schools would have prevented Columbine, and other events like VA Tech? Is not the US far and away the most religious of first world countries now? Is it not also the most violent of the first world countries?
The daughter is described elsewhere as a devout christian...
As one of the more militant and outspoken atheists around here, I'm glad to see that cooler heads have already pointed out the error of your ways so I didn't have to go all "unprofessional and discourteous" on you ;D
Towing the line as in backing up whatever Bush and his sycophants have to say. As you said, you don't care what my point of view is and the feeling is mutual. I was just wondering why you were so adamant about about dismissing what these retired generals had to say. But, no sense getting worked...
Would they be respected former generals who views we should consider if they more closely followed your right wing view of things?
Surely you wouldn't want them stating these views while they were serving officers? Yet now that they are retired and are allowed to say what they think, they...
Back when I started learning about such definitions, in the early 80's, the following definitions were in effect:
Combat Arms - Armour, Infantry, Artillery
Combat Support - Signals, Engineers, Tac Hel
Combat Service Support - The Rest (like MaryAnne and the Professor :D )
I take it the...
Absolutely correct. Although on Ph II Inf we had a VanDoo SgtMaj tell us that, "I will call you Sir, and you will call me Sir. I won't mean it but you better!!" :D The fun stuff that happens on course.
Of course he was the same SgtMaj that addressed a coy of 2 anglo and 1 franco pls and in...
To quote myself from a very similar thread more than two years ago:
"How can the average citizen know who would make a good judge? There is no way for the lay person to compare the performance of competing lawyers. What you end up with is which candidate has the best and most slick ad campaign...
I grew up in Halifax and then moved to Calgary :D. I did well in my high school french courses and scored superior on the mlat, but again, living in the east then the west I had no need for french whatsoever and totally lost the little I had.
I don't mean to bash the french language or...
When they started this, some time after I went a year straight of phase training, I wondered how they could justify sending all those people from botc to language trg when it's known that many classifications have a fairly high failure rate. I thought they seemed to be giving a lot of free...

SCI FI Boosts Battlestar Order
SCI FI Channel has increased its episode order for the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica to 22 from the original 13, including a special two-hour extended episode that will...
Don't get carried away with the religious stuff there guns, not all native born Canadians are religious let alone christian, and we certainly don't have to "learn to live with it".
On the other hand, I love christmas trees and happily greet people with a hearty Merry Christmas :D
Looks like an interesting book. According to one amazon review there is a chapter on 1st Polish Armoured Div by my old friend and best man John Grodzinski. I might have to pick it up just for that.
Sodomy is not immoral. And the Supreme Court has decreed it is not a crime. It is just a matter of time before the military justice system has to change to reflect that fact.
"I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts," Pace was...
I was waiting for this story to show up here. And yes, the General is fully entitled to his opinion. I'm sure the many thousands of gays in the US military are thrilled to hear the Charmain of the JCS believes they are immoral. I'm sure they will be motivated to be better infanteers, medics...
Just another reminder of how old I am. Capt JPPJ Lacroix was my course officer for Ph II Armour in Jan 85. Nice guy who was definitely very good at his job. You don't forget seeing all those initials on your forms :D
I had never tried Starbucks coffee until a woman at work made some when I first got there about six years ago. After all that terrible coffee in the army, I had never thought I'd find one I couldn't drink or even stand the smell of. Starbucks coffee was it. I still cringe when I think of it.
