Corrective Eye Surgery

I don't believe I meet the max +/- 7.00 dioptres requirement for VA. Is it advisable to undergo corrective eye surgery prior to starting an application and, more importantly, might this complicate my application later on? Or would it better to wait for the MO to assess my VA and recommend, if necessary, corrective eye surgery?  (Sorry I had to post here; couldn't find current posts detailing the specific pro/cons in terms of the application process)
