    Release before BMQ

You are a member of the Canadian Forces.  You signed a contract for at least three years, maybe more depending on what you signed up for.  It's going to be a long enough process to get out even if you play nice, but if you go AWOL from BMQ you're going to be in for a long tough go.  You'll be...

Personal Items in rooms at Borden.

I wouldn't worry too much about your personal items in your room at Borden.  You're not supposed to have anything worth taking in your room with you, and if you're hiding your cell phone or laptop in there you're just asking for trouble.  I'd follow the advice above and mark everything (issued...

    No more Borden BMQ?

Saturday night, Barrie Ontario, Internet Cafe, 1824 hours, lots of drinking, this is weekend number four of reg force BMQ at Borden. I assure you Reg force training is happening here, and will be for some time.  I'm having lots of fun, but was CB'd last night after a brutal RSM inspection.  Not...

Mail that doesn't make it there in time - Blackdown CTC

I'm wondering if anyone knows about mail being sent to barrie before going to borden.. I've been paying for express post so that it gets there in three days, but when i track the package online it shows that it got to barrie and then ships out and takes like another week to get to the borden...

CFHA Residential Housing Unit (RHU)-old PMQ [MERGED]

Actually the guy we talked to at the recruiting center told us that technically he still resides here with me, and that it would count for part of the year to get common law status..

Those selected for BMQ: 26th Sept to 9th Dec in Borden

I'm leaving my house tomorrow at about 0415 to be early for check-in at the airport.  It's going to be interesting to see what they do with us for a day and half before our course begins.  Hopefully we are allowed to explore the base somewhat, and maybe get some exercise to help calm the nerves...

MUST HAVE Documents for arrival at BMQ

Thanks for the replies. I am going Reg. Force, and apparently I don't need my provincial health card.  I sent my Girlfriend into the recruiting center yesterday while I was at work, and they told her to tell me not to worry about it.  The package I received was for Naval Reserve, they don't...

MUST HAVE Documents for arrival at BMQ

I'm scheduled to attend basic training in Borden on the 26th of September and I've received my joining instructions and list of required items and documents. On it it says that one of the documents I must have in my possession upon arrival to Borden is my provincial health card.  My problem is...

Those selected for BMQ: 26th Sept to 9th Dec in Borden

I think the rumor has been validated.  I have been told that I will definately be attending BMQ in Borden on the 26th of September.  I'm going regular force 031 (infantry).  I get sworn in on September 2nd here in Victoria. I'm getting pretty excited about it, but nervous too. Anyway, My name's...

Deemed crazy and want to join?

I didn't see anything about bad records, or any record at all for that matter.   She has appeared in a few police reports as far as we know and that's the extent of it.   Having your name appear on police reports is completely irrelevant to the recruiting process. Besides, some people have...

Deemed crazy and want to join?

Evaluations are one thing, and seemingly not even within your control if it was your parents who sent you.  Diagnosis is another thing altogether.  I would only comment to the recruiter about things that you are diagnosed for, not things that other people have said they think you might have.  I...

    Interview advice (merged)

It was suprisingly relaxed.  It can take quite awhile depending on how much you elaborate on your answers, but the time seems to go by really fast.  At least in my case it did. It was probably the least stressful job interview I ever had.  Maybe a bit because I did so much preperation for it...

Those selected for BMQ: 26th Sept to 9th Dec in Borden

I'm happy about going to Borden because I'd like to try and take in a Leafs game during the mid course break.  Go Leafs Go. Anyway, what trade are you going J-Mac? I met a couple of guys at my repeat PT test who were going on the Sept 26th course for 031 PPCLI. I hope our course meshes well and...

Those selected for BMQ: 26th Sept to 9th Dec in Borden

I'm going to be at the Sept. 26th to Dec. 9th BMQ in Borden.   I Leave Victoria on the 24th. I was told once that BMQ Always starts on a Monday, so I think you must have been told the 26th.  Then if you add 10 weeks its going to be until Dec. 9th.  Your recruiter may have made a hasty...

whos going to st jean on aug 16 for basic?

Depending on your recruiter, you may not hear back from them at all, you should call in periodically to find out what's happening with your file.  If you just finished all your testing, then you will probably have to wait for 6-8 weeks minimum just for your medical file to return from Borden. ...

    question?

Well you can go to prison for 2 years for lying to or misleading the induindividual who is assessing your medical suitability.   Plus if your CFRC has information about your asthma, they will always have it, your file expiring doesn't mean you get to open up a brand new file, they just update...

    the waiting part !!!

Ah I thought the Barnes quote was something that HE had used, sorry for the mix up.

    the waiting part !!!

It's disturbing that killing is even a reason why you'd want to join, last reason or not.  Maybe do some research about what a Canadian soldiers job is really like.  No one can say for sure what is going to happen on any given tour overseas, but it's probably not going to be like Platoon, Full...

    Paying for flight to BMQ

My recruiter told me yesterday that it will be 2/3 of the way through BMQ.  However, it wouldn't be the first time I was misinformed by the recruiting center if that is incorrect. I've heard that from 2 recruiting centers now though, so I think it might be accurate.
