    Application process

Hey folks, I have applied for the Army Reserves in Toronto and I am wondering how to check the status of my application. I handed in my application papers to a recruiter at a local armoury (Fort York) after applying online and getting a confirmation, I did my PT test, my CFAT, completed the...

    Application process

I'm interested in checking the status of my reserves application, it's been over a month since I've heard anything after completing all the steps (PT, CFAT, interview, medical). What information should I include in the email to the address you posted? Is it better to call or email? Thanks!

    Delay in CFAT Results

When I did my CFAT they told me that I wouldn't get results they just booked me for my interview after, no emails or anything about the CFAT. Is that normal? For Reserves by the way

Reserves Combat Engineer, the recruiting video vs reality

Hey thanks buddy, it's just so hard to pick a trade, Engineers sounds awesome but I don't want to be stuck doing labour/construction style jobs when other guys are off doing more 'army stuff' during training you know what I mean? Maybe it's a misplaced concern. I'll shoot you a PM though

Reserves Combat Engineer, the recruiting video vs reality

Yep, Toronto, good detective work! Man it's tough to settle on a trade, so many cool jobs

Reserves Combat Engineer, the recruiting video vs reality

Absolutely, I've been calling the local unit to speak to them/sign up but everyone is apparently out of the office until early May so I'm just standing by. Anything else you can elaborate on?? You're exactly the type of guy I want to hear from on this WRT my original question. Is that...

Reserves Combat Engineer, the recruiting video vs reality

Hey guys, I'm very interested in this trade in particular. After speaking with a friend of mine, who is a recruiter, he described the job to me as 90% building bridges and that is it often 'back breaking hard labour', whereas the recruiting video on the forces.ca shows a very wide variety of...

metric vs imperial - which does CF use?

Interesting you mention that because it was looking into the Combat Engineering trade that lead me to ask in the first place... Feel like elaborating or has it basically been covered already by these other guys? CHeers

metric vs imperial - which does CF use?

So in the end, would things like reference materials/plans/tools/hardware all be in metric too? BRUTAL. I've worked in other trades/industries and it's a nice healthy mix of what works best. Just curious guys, trying to mentally prepare. Thanks

metric vs imperial - which does CF use?

Thank you, that did not show up in my search! Last post was in 2006, will I get chewed out if I post a reply there?

metric vs imperial - which does CF use?

This is something I was running through my head today, as I'm considering joining the army reserves and was looking very closely at the Combat Engineers page on the recruiting website. Are you guys forces to use the Metric system only in the CF or is there a healthy mix of both systems like in...

    QOR vs 48th Highlanders ??

Easy man, I'm 27 don't get me in trouble! So after a couple unanswered phone calls and voicemails to 32 brigade recruiting I'm wonder is it better to email them? In your experience what's best.

    QOR vs 48th Highlanders ??

Thanks for all the replies guys! Nobody answering the phone at the 32 recruiting office phoneline, I left a couple voicemails though... In the mean time, just curious, does the 48th ALWAYS wear the kilt for the parade uniform? Even during the winter?? I mean damn, freezing your nuts off is not...

    QOR vs 48th Highlanders ??

Thanks for the replies! So what I'm hearing is there's no real functional difference in what they do or what jobs they get, with the exception of the jump tasking? So it's mostly just ceremonial/uniform differences then??

    QOR vs 48th Highlanders ??

Thanks for the info! Well I'm Scottish background so a highland unit sounds pretty damn cool to me, but that's pretty secondary to whatever the practical differences are in what they do and go about things. Shoot.
