I can see I read the chart wrong but I still maintain that we have more then 1% of the population that have served in the military and if you look at male population(which is where most veterans come from) it is even higher still.
https://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/about-vac/news-media/facts-figures/1-0. If you look at the column where it talks about Male demographics it shows around 18% by the time their in their 50 to 60 have served time in the military.
There is alot more veterans then some people think. I always hear only 1% of the population is willing to serve but that is very untrue. We all serve in the military at different times of our lives but I find quite alot of people have served one time or another in the canadian armed forces
Like a lot of people on here I know a few soldiers that came back from Afghanistan with PTSD.
I got into a conversation with a family member who said the people who suffer the most are not the soldiers but the civilians in these conflicts.
She said the soldiers have guns to protect themselves...
Just got back from seeing this.
It was very well done.
Was cool how they figure out one of the speeches the officer gave his troops the day before the Somme.
I was disappointed with the movie after reading the title
I thought it was going to be about the struggles of the road and what soldiers went through when he was there
I get it, there was a story about Afghanistan he wanted to tell. It just I was hoping for something different
Deck you guys were allowed to skip breakfast? When I did my SQ course 13 years ago we were told it was a chargeable offensive to miss a meal. No way we could even try because we were march to our meals. Was wondering did the rules changed or something. Sorry you guys getting to decided whether...
Was reading some responses on how different troops feel about civilians saying to them "thank you for your service." Usually it starts out by a few veterans saying how they hate it for a few different reasons followed by a few civilians getting upset because they now feels they are being...
No problem Lumber. Thanks Jarnhamar and Oldgateboatdriver for helping Lumber understand. Next time I be more clear on my post and show it as a quote not a regular text.
when an instructor is saying "Everyone should be raising their hands to answer this question", He's really trying to single out people who don't know the answer, so he can make a fool out of them for not knowing it. And if your hand is down, after him saying that... you're DEFINITELY going to...
Crazy thing is I google Russia military capabilities and it's scary how powerful they are. With their s400's they have by far the best air defence in the world. Sounds like they can defeat us air power. Some say they are developing better 5th generation fighter jets. Also a better electronic...
Thanks for answering my questions guys. So basically Russia doesn't have enough resources to go into places like Germany and US doesn't have enough resources to take the Baltic states back but enough with help from rest of nato to stop Russia from going to far into Europe. So the question is...
I read that Russia could beat Nato in 60 hours. But also in one year Nato could build up enough forces to hopefully defend against Russia. Is this because Russia has now a more powerful military than the USA or is it all because of logistics and where the fight would take place the reason...
As a Newfoundlander I was very interested in seeing it. I tought it was well done and greatly appreciate it being done. Wish I was home for the 100 anniversary.
