On my birthday I ran 10km then biked another 50.
Tomorrow I get to wear my kilt in a parade, then will dive right into Forty Creek.....best tasting whiskey I think I've ever had ;D
Thanks for posting this. Born and raised in a town about 30 minutes from Rivers, I found it an interesting read. When we were little my dad would take a short detour to show us the old base. It's crazy to think that it was so vibrant not long ago, then to look at the town now.
You can still get a good shine with just some polish and brush too. That's all I've ever used on my combats and people are always asking me what I did to them.. I don't know what they're doing different than me though.
For anyone interested, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. As such, a celebratory weekend has been planned for Oct. 22 - 24 in Winnipeg. Those interested in joining us can find the appropriate contacts at the unit website. :piper:

We aren't paid by the hour, but are paid a fixed amount according to rank and half day/full day worked.
Anything less than 6 (?) hours is a half day; so working a few extra hours may not necessarily mean more money. That being said, sometimes you can make some pretty sweet change for a short day.

Did a search to see if this has been posted but didn't find anything. Apparently this has been around for a while but I had no idea.

I would say go reg force then. In three years as a reg force engineer you will be more proficient at the job then you would as a reservist in that time. (my opinion). At the end of your contract you could leave if you want, but you'll still have plenty of stories for your buddies back home.
You...
Thanks for the help guys.
I will see what comes up in my next consultation with the ortho, but I have a feeling these braces are going to put many of my plans on hold.
Hi all,
just got news from the orthodontist that I need to get braces, and I have to do so pretty soon to have any sort of insurance coverage. I've also been planning on trying to get on 1-11 so I looked up how this would effect that, and came up with this...
My internet is too slow to watch the video in that link so here is a text article for those in the same boat.

Ah, absolutism vs. relativism was one topic of philosophy I rather enjoyed.
The entire class supported relativism initially, but after further discussion it was clear that absolutism is a much more appropriate concept.
PT is always an option. It might be valuable to take a day to teach and learn how to exercise properly. By that I mean how to lift weights safely and effectively, fundamentals of a good diet, how to organize a routine, cardio vs. weights, etc.
In a friendly and helpful environment this might...
A friend of mine recently transferred to the PPCLI. We did reserve BMQ and SQ together (8 weeks combined) and he was allowed to go straight on to the RegF infantry course.
That being said...had he been a BIQ qualified reservist I'm sure they would have made him do the reg force BIQ anyways.
