Saving the shins/lower back on ruck marches

Don't know the exact name for it but it looks exactly like the one in the attached pic. Just had it packed with rations and clothing along with the valise and thremarest. About 40 lbs Valise just held the sleeping bag and groundsheet.

Saving the shins/lower back on ruck marches

Resurrecting this one from the dead regarding the lower back soreness: Went on a ruck march this weekend with my unit. First one on Friday was fine as the rucksack sat straight and felt balanced with the exception of it being tight on the shoulders (no chest strap). The second march was shit...

    ROTP time commitment for Regs

Hi kincanucks, Thanks for your reply.  I did a search and did not find what I was looking for. Therefore, I posted a new topic. I can also assure you that I did not receive an explanation as detailed as yours at the CFRC. The OCdt started off saying that 5 years is the max that you have to...

    ROTP time commitment for Regs

Hey everybody, I am applying to the Regs through ROTP and am wondering about the time commitment involved if I am working towards a History degree at a Civi Uni. I phoned my local CFRC and talked to an Officer Cadet in ROTP. I got some answers from him but they were kind of shaky. I asked him...

    Reserves and Trades School

Hi Everyone, I have a question about joining the reserves. I'm 17 and planning on graduating high school in January. In September, I plan to move on to a trades school to study for an electrical ticket. I really want to serve my country by joining the reserves. The closest reserve unit to me is...

remember this when you go for a jog

I can sympathize with your father, formerarmybrat. Yesterday I was out for a 5k run in the park and was slowed down by a class of kids attending the local high school. I was nearing the end of my run and a couple of them smirked at me, which was fine. I passed them and the next kid purposely...

Can you support the troops and not the mission?

Although it is very obvious, I will say yes. It is possible to support the troops and the mission. All troops (with the exception of reservists) have no choice but to play an active part in any mission. They deserve 100% respect for what they do to protect us every day, whether we support it or not.
